Candle Burning Tips Part II

Below are some more candle-burning tips, which should help you get the best results from your candles as well as the most value for your money:

Extinguishing Your Candle:

When you blow out your next candle, try this technique. Place and hold your index finger between your lips and the flame when blowing. This will cause the airflow from your breath to go around your finger, striking the flame from both sides. This is a more effective way of extinguishing the flame while reducing the chance of blowing wax out of the pool and onto the table.

Watch Out for the Sun:

The sun will fade the color in many scented candles, so be sure to place your decorative candle out of direct sunlight so that they will retain their true color.

Removing a Votive:

It's simple to remove a votive candle from its holder. Simply place the candle in the freezer for a few minutes, which will cause the wax to shrink a small amount enabling it to pop off of the glass.

Burning Votives:

Votive candles are designed to completely liquefy and therefore they should be placed in a votive holder or glass, which is close to the same size as the votive. If the container is too large, the votive will not burn correctly or completely.

Using Scented Candles to Lose Weight:

This is completely pure speculation, however, it is said that burning sweet smelling candles like those that have scents of sweet foods will actually help curb a your desire to eat sweets. Studies show that when some people smell sweet aromas, it satisfies at least part of the pleasure they gets from eating sweets. Does it work? Why don't we find out for ourselves?
