Creating floating candles

A great way to mix fire and water is in the beauty of a floating candle. You need a container for the candle and a container for the water. The rest is up to your imagination!

Short glass cylinders work well for floating candles. You can also use a wine glass or a water glass. Crystal or cut glass will disperse the light and add a shimmering touch. Floating candles also look great in large, shallow bowls of brass, copper, silver, or glass. You can mix flowers and floating candles together if the bowl is large enough.

You can also place tea lights in floating holders. If you're really pressed, you can put the tea lights in by themselves, as their aluminum containers won't crack in cold water. However, you’ll have to be gentle when placing them on the water.

Use as many candles as you can. More is better when it comes to floating candle arrangements.

Translucent gel-based floating candles are particularly striking in their clear protective containers. They burn for a long time, too, so they are economical.

If you have floating candles on the dinner table or in an entertainment area, you can continue the theme in the bathroom. Floating candles look natural in the bathroom. You can even put them in the bathtub, in your bathroom or the guest bathroom, and use mirrors to extend the effect. You can also place them on the windowsill in individual containers. Add some flowers for color. In addition, you can carry the theme into the bedroom. You can combine pillar candles with a bowl of floating candles to make an elegant impression.

Floating candles are usually unscented because they are most often used at the dinner table. You don’t want the fragrance of scented candles competing with the aromas and flavors of food. However, if food is not being served, you can choose from a wide variety of scented floating candles.

Floating candles are not restricted to formal affairs. You can find them in many different shapes, from colorful flowers to insect, plant, and animal designs, as well as ghosts and cartoon characters.

You can also use floating candles outdoors, such as on an outdoor pond, although they need some degree of shelter from the wind and rain. Some designs incorporate recessed wicks to shelter the flame from the wind.

Floating candles may be either poured or pressed. Poured candles are often a better buy, as they are dense and burn for a long time. As with most things, you get what you pay for. However, some less expensive versions will work perfectly well. Read the maker's description to see what kind of candles they offer. For safety, make sure the container holding the candle is watertight and not inflammable.
