Why are
candles so romantic?
They fill our spirits
with light and warmth. They glow like a promise,
illuminate the dark, and touch our hearts. They
remind us of home and hearth. We light them in
memory of a loved one we hope will come home

a wedding.

area, it promotes a sense of privacy and
intimacy as well as relaxation. Couples love to
bask in the warm light of a candle.
The lure of fire harkens back to the days when
couples snuggled up in animals skins in caves.
Fire, even the tiny flame of a candle, is a
symbol of home and safety. Fire made survival
possible. It provided our ancestors with the
ability to keep warm, cook food, and fight off
predators. It’s no wonder the light created by
even a little candle flame is mesmerizing.
The light from a candle touches our skin and
makes us feel good. If the candle is scented, so
much the better. The senses of sight, touch, and
smell are all involved in the experience.
Perhaps even the sense of taste, as this sense
is often aroused along with the sense of smell.
Add some soft music playing low in the
background and all five senses become engaged.
